Biofuel research reaches fever pitch

Researchers gathered at a global biotechnology conference in Toronto yesterday to explore better methods of making biofuels out of everything from corn stalks to orange peels.

The search is on to find higher yielding crops and improved sugar extracting enzymes — both necessary for making biofuel production more economical and less disruptive to food and livestock feed markets.
