07/07 (LWN) Numerous analysts around the world have warned in recent days that oil prices are likely to exceed $100/barrel at an early date, with prices already having exceeded $75 to reach a new record high.
Earlier today, MarketWatch issued a commentary by Kevin Kerr calling prices in excess of $100/barrel “inevitable”, remarking that severe hurricanes or terrorist attacks on oil facilities could push prices into the triple digits. Qatar’s Gulf Times newspaper and other media outlets published articles quoting American investor and billionaire Jim Rogers as saying that he expected oil prices to exceed $100/barrel and stay above it for a substantial period of time.
