U.S. ethanol prices extended a surge to an all-time high of $3.67/gallon last week as fuel companies increased demand for the grain-based additive for gasoline, according to a Bloomberg survey of ethanol producers, oil refiners and fuel blenders. The Bloomberg national average is based on ethanol traded in almost 30 other Midwest locations and is up from $1.49 a year ago. The new price average is the highest since at least 1997, based on Bloomberg data.
