…Thus among the participants in Friday’s fair will be the Alaska Coalition, a group dedicated to protecting Alaska’s wild public land, and Waterville’s Peak Oil group, a collection of people convinced that the planet has entered the downward slope of world oil production.
Sanborn said the Peak Oil group, which advocates replacing oil with alternative energy sources, will bring a solar powered car built by students at Skowhegan Area High School.
“I don’t want to hear Detroit say solar (cars) are too hard to build when these high school kids did it,” he said.
Railroad Square already has an electric car on display in its lobby that gets 100 mpg.
