Frying oil price raised due to biodiesel demand

ROTTERDAM – French fries at snackbars are expected to get more expensive. This is due to a rising demand for biodiesel that also pushed demand for frying oil. Biodiesel can be made from various sources of vegetable oil.

“Governments want biological fuel to be blended with diesel. This year at two percent, but that number will rise in the near future.” says Jurgen Rollingswier of frying fuel producer Levo, in this week’s ‘Snackkoerier’. Besides Levo, Remia and Van Dijk Food, known for its brand Gouda’s Glorie, have raised the prices of their frying oils. In the end, the customer will have to pay for the raise.
