BusinessWeek – Mexico’s state-owned oil monopoly should maintain its crude-oil production levels in the next few years, despite a decline at its main oil-producing field, the energy minister said Monday…
Output at Cantarell, which produced just over 2 million barrels a day of heavy crude last year, is expected to decline to at least 1.9 million barrels a day in 2006, with production falling off more rapidly in 2007 and 2008.
Pemex is aiming to replace that lost production by raising output at the offshore Ku-Maloob Zaap oil field and at other projects.
