Experts forecast slower traffic
Eric Pfeifer has changed his boating life because of rising gas prices.
Last year, he canceled a trip to the East Coast. He’s even stopped eating lunch.
Well, he stopped eating lunch in Lexington where he used to travel the 20 to 25 miles by boat.
Those days are over, said Pfeifer, 43, of Fort Gratiot.
He, like other area boaters, is preparing for a summer of high fuel prices that could put a damper on summer traditions.
“It’s not the same kind of boating it used to be,” Pfeifer said. “We don’t do long weekends like we used to. We certainly don’t run the boat like we used to.”
