U.S. oil demand in January averaged 20.11 million barrels a day, down 2% from a year earlier and at the lowest monthly level since September 2005, when hurricanes pushed retail gasoline prices to record high levels, latest government data show.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration’s revised figures, published Tuesday, show demand down 0.9%, or 177,000 b/d from previous estimates.
