The number of wind turbines dotted across Britain’s landscape is set to surge over the next four years despite trouble getting planning permission, the wind power industry said on Monday.
Onshore turbines capable of powering 3 million homes, or five percent of UK electricity supply, will be spinning by the end of the decade as the industry grows much faster than previously expected, the British Wind Energy Association (BWEA) said in its submission to a government consultation on future energy policy.
