Gas Fire Injures One Person, Causes Evacuations

A fire at a natural gas compression station in southwest Weld County injured one employee and forced people living in the area to evacuate Sunday.

The fire happened while the employee was bleeding off a gas pipeline, said Weld County sheriff’s spokeswoman Margie Martinez. She says this is a normal procedure and it’s not clear what triggered the explosion.
