The natural gas consumption in Istanbul reached to 750 million cubic meters in January due to the cold weather stream from Siberia.
The natural gas provider to metropolitan area, IGDAS, reached it’s highest sale rate in its 20-year history.
Levent Tufekci, IGDAS General Manager, said Friday: “Our natural gas sale target for 2006 was 4.1 billion cubic meters and by selling 750 million cubic meters in only January we have realized 29 percent of this target.”
IGDAS is planned to go public this year; so, the authorities are studying two alternatives: block sale of the company and going public.
