Energy consumption to rise 57pc by 2025: Gas summit

Doha: World energy consumption is projected to rise by a hefty 57 per cent from 2002 until 2025.

A paper presented at the Gas Summit 2006 that concluded here yesterday suggests that much of the growth would be witnessed in countries with emerging economies.

..World oil use is expected to grow from 78 million barrels per day (bpd) in 2002 to 103 million bpd in 2015 and 119 million bpd in 2025.

..Natural gas is seen as the fastest growing component of the world’s primary energy consumption. Its consumption is likely to grow at an average of 2.3 per cent yearly from 2002 to 2025.
