The volume of long-term oil supplies may not see the rate of increase to which the world has become accustomed since the end of World War II over 60 years ago.
Some experts have projected that world oil production is likely to reach peak levels by 2007 or 2009, after which they expect it to begin a steady decline because of the slowdown in the expansion of reserves. They further predict that proven oil reserves will also be on the decline in the following decade.
