Coal changed into oil

Chinese researchers have been working hard for years to find alternative energy for oil. Now their dream may be coming true. A new technology has been developed that changes coal into liquid, and this could have a major impact on how we use energy.

Yanzhou Coal Mine Group from the eastern province of Shandong indirectly turned coal into liquid about three years ago.

Five months after the experiment, another coal industry giant, the Shenhua Group, set up the world’s first direct liquefied coal project in Inner Mongolia. The first production line is expected to be finished by 2007.
