The sight of Georgians standing in long lines to buy kerosene or firewood became a common occurrence over last week’s energy crisis. But the crisis has caused scores of other concerns, including worries about bread production.
Many evenings last week stores had exhausted their bread supplies and it was widely reported that bread came more expensive as venders either raised prices or decreased the size of loaves. The National Movement went as far as distributing free bread in Tbilisi along side firewood and fuel.
