China to buy more fuel oil directly from producers

China, Asia’s largest fuel oil importer, will buy more of its supplies directly from producing countries rather than through traders in Singapore, to ease the impact of high oil prices, industry sources said on Thursday.

..“The Chinese are getting smarter. They will buy increasingly less volume from Singapore and more directly from producers,” a Singapore-based Western trader said, referring to supplies from the Middle East and Venezuela.
